BANKERS’  CLUB GREATER KOCHI – A Brief History

Bankers Club Greater Kochi (now popularly known as ‘BCGK’) is one of the most vibrant forums of Bankers in Kochi, formed  with an objective to  create a high standard of personal values and professional ethics among banking fraternity, to enrich their aptitude, knowledge, hidden talents and skills.  We have got the privilege to hear a number of stalwarts/dignitaries from different walks of life in our various meetings.

We proved that Bankers clubs can also create fresh relationships, lasting bond of friendship, and a new meaning in our life style through  get-togethers, family picnics, new year and Onam celebrations, Inter Bank cultural and sports events.

FORMATION

Sri. Prabhat Patnaik, the Vice Chairman, Planning Commission of Kerala is inaugurating BCGK

It had a humble beginning. A small group of like minded officers under the leadership of Sri. K. U. Balakrishnan (Corporation Bank) and Sri. K. K. Radhakrishnan Nair (Bank of Baroda) assembled during October 2006 and mooted the idea of formation of a new Bankers Club in Kochi, admitting  officers in all scales, (as the already existing club restricted their membership exclusively to Senior Executives) Thanks to Sri. Venugopal and Sri. L R R Warrier for their whole hearted support. (both are from SBT) Accordingly, Bankers Club Greater Kochi came into existence in December 2007. The Club was officially inaugurated by Sri. Prabhat Patnaik, the Vice Chairman, Planning Commission of Kerala in a Grand Function  at Hotel Mercy, Ernakulam.

BCGK is  now became a common  platform  for all the Bankers  in Kochi to meet and share their  professional experiences, ideas and views and for conducting Seminars, Discussion Classes and talks on various subjects by eminent personalities, especially Banking and Finance with a view to enrich knowledge, expertise and skill and to inculcate professional ethics, harmony and loyalty.

EMBLEM & BYE-LAW

The Bye Law and logo of BCGK representing ‘Growth, Unity and Co-operation’ was approved in the first General Body Meeting and the logo was later adopted by the State Forum of Bankers Clubs Kerala and its affiliates.

 

REGISTRATION

BANKERS’ CLUB GREATER KOCHI is registered under the Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act 1955 and  its registration number is ER318/08

AFFILIATION WITH  STATE FORUM OF BANKERS’ CLUBS (KERALA):

BCGK is affiliated to State Forum of Bankers Club Kerala (SFBCK), the apex body of Bankers Clubs in the State of Kerala.

MEMBERSHIP

BCGK is the largest bankers club in Kerala with membership of over 700 officers from various banks. It has won ‘Best Bankers Club Award’ from SFBCK consecutively for the past three years.
